Andy Warhol, born Andrew Warhola on August 6, 1928, was the youngest of three sons born to Andrej Warhola and Julia Zavacky Warhola. His parents immigrated to the United States from the European region that is now Slovakia, settling into the working-class neighborhood of Uptown in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Archives and Research - The Andy Warhol Museum
The archives are part of Warhol’s life work and the greatest single collection of ephemera documenting the diverse worlds in which Warhol was active. The collection consists of perhaps half a million objects, and it tells Warhol’s story alongside the art collection.

The museum’s art collection includes 900 paintings; approximately 100 sculptures; nearly 2,000 works on paper; more than 1,000 published and unique prints; and 4,000 photographs. The collection also features Warhol wallpaper and books.
