A Hainanese Legacy Passed Down Through Generations This humble chicken rice shop is one of George Town’s best food experience, with a history that stretches back generations ago. It all began at Kheng Pin Coffee Shop, where Madam Ho Toay Heng’s father—an emigrant from Hainan Island—first introduced his signature Hainanese chicken rice. Madam Ho eventually took over the business, continuing her father’s legacy. Today, the tradition lives on. The stall has since moved to a shop just down the road,
