Did you know? Viking Age clothing is often misrepresented on screen. In movies you usually see dark fabrics, leather, and rough stitching… but archaeology tells a different story. The textile fragments we do have from findings show skilled craftsmanship and fabrics that were often colorful. Plant dyes and natural materials could produce a wide range of shades, yellow for example was fairly easy, while deep blues and reds required costly dyes or special skill. Color was more than decoration, it w
