Listeria is bacteria that causes an illness called listeriosis. This type of food poisoning is rare, but is more likely to result in serious illness, in certain groups of people. This includes: ▶️ Pregnant women ▶️ People with weakened immune systems ▶️ Older people (the risk increases with age) Listeria is widespread in the environment and can contaminate foods. It is most common in chilled, ready-to-eat foods such as: 🍗 cold pre-cooked meats – such as chicken 🥪 deli meats – such as salami an
