C is for Coronations. The Abbey has been the Coronation Church since 1066, with 39 coronations held here and 40 monarchs crowned. Most recently, the Coronation of Their Majesties The King and Queen was held in May 2023. The service – the first coronation for 70 years – incorporated some new elements alongside the traditional liturgy, including the King praying aloud in the Abbey, saying, ‘Grant that I may be a blessing to all thy children, of every faith and belief’. | Westminster Abbey
